North star VD series 【 】 high-voltage probe

The "bare" version of the North Star VD series probe has been upgraded, allowing space-saving installation into oil (or SF6) tanks. These probe are similar to the VD series probe, but accuracy is lower, and the cost is also lower. When installing these probes, some information about the surrounding area is required. The VD-120B bare probe (120 kV) has a length of 0.35 m. Through the expandable threaded interface, multiple bare probe can be stacked into higher voltage units. VD-60B and VD-120B provide voltages of 60 kV and 120 kV, respectively, and these two models of bare probe can also be used in air.

Multiple VD-60B and VD-120B units can be combined to form 180kV, 240kV, 300kV, and 360kV configurations. The standard voltage division ratio of the North Star VD series bare probe is 10,000:1, but other division ratios can be customized. Both shielded and unshielded versions of probe are available. The typical accuracy of this series of bare probe is 1% (DC) and 1.5% (AC and pulse).

The bare probe is designed for devices or measurement conditions that are easy to understand, with measurements mainly in DC or areas with no nearby conductors. They are designed with high capacitance to minimize stray capacitance effects without the need for shielded toroidal coils. A shield ring can also be provided for very precise built-in measurements. The probes are long enough to be used in air with appropriate electrodes or in oil or SF6 gas. probe applications range from in-situ measurements on pulse modulators to implanted devices and excimer laser system measurements. They are calibration at the factory and require no adjustment after installation. They can be used with various measuring instruments, such as 10 MΩ meters and 1 MΩ oscilloscope, as well as various digitizers. The new robust enclosure design allows multiple VD-60B and VD-120B basic units to be coupled together to provide higher voltages.
