TriMode™ probing architecture
Before TriMode was introduced: differential measurements required 1 probe; single-ended and common-mode measurements required 2 probes, or 1 solder-in probe but re-soldering 3 times; common-mode measurements required 2 probes.
One probe setup enables accurate differential, single-ended, and common-mode measurements.
Tektronix is the recognized leader in signal fidelity and signal acquisition. Building on the probing innovations with which we have led the market, we created the revolutionary TriMode™ probing architecture, which sets the next-generation industry benchmark for usability and signal fidelity in probing solutions. This architecture changes the rules of probing and lets you work more effectively. With their unique capabilities, P7500 Series TriMode probes can switch between differential, single-ended, and common-mode measurements without moving the probe between connection points.
Increased productivity by reducing setup time. Three different types of measurements can be made with a single setup, and setup is completed with the push of a button. The P7500 Series TriMode probe architecture continues the two traditional Tektronix product advantages of high bandwidth and low DUT loading, with better connectivity and value.
TriMode (P75TLRST): 1 probe enables differential, single-ended, and common-mode measurements, with only one setup.
The P7500 Series TriMode probe architecture offers multiple connection capabilities and delivers high probe fidelity suitable for real-time oscilloscopes. The P7500 Series multi-point connection solutions include:
TriMode high-performance solder-in tip. The highest-performance solder-in tip. Up to 25 GHz bandwidth.
TriMode long-reach solder-in tip. A high-performance, long-reach solder-in tip that is very compact. Up to 20 GHz bandwidth.

TriMode high-performance tip When used with a 1.5 m extended receptacle cable, this tip can be used in environments at temperatures from –55℃ to 150℃. When used with a DSP, bandwidth is up to 10 GHz.
Damped wire tip Low-cost solder tip, well suited for high-density probing. Up to 8 GHz bandwidth.
Precision differential probing module High-performance handheld probing module. Up to 18 GHz bandwidth.
The optional precision differential probing module (P75PDPM) meets handheld and fixtured probing requirements. The module includes multiple small precision tapered tips; the probe tip features variable articulation, and the tip spacing is variable and easy to adjust, enabling flexible adaptation to through holes and other test points measuring 30 to 180 mil.
These precision connection tools let you access multiple signals on any object, whether convenient test pads or hard-to-reach high-density circuits.
Measuring with TriMode gives you the signal fidelity you want. This all-new innovative Tektronix differential architecture combines the excellent electrical performance of IBM SiGe technology to deliver bandwidth and fidelity that meet current and future industry requirements.
