The IsoVu Gen 2 probe sets a new standard for isolated probe technology with its versatile MMCX connector and unparalleled combination of bandwidth, dynamic range, and common-mode rejection.
Isolated probes use electrical (optical) or RF isolation to separate the probe's reference voltage from the oscilloscope's reference voltage (usually ground). This allows power supply designers to accurately analyze high-bandwidth, high-voltage differential signals in the presence of large common-mode voltages. Tektronix has developed a new technology (IsoVu) that uses electrical isolation to provide excellent common-mode rejection performance within high bandwidth for comparable probes.
Compared with traditional high-bandwidth differential probes used for measuring high-voltage signals, the IsoVu probe combines isolation and high-frequency performance to provide more accurate measurements for power supply designers. Application examples include:
Switch-mode power supply design
Power FET design/analysis of wide-bandgap GaN and SiC devices
Inverter design
Motor drive design
BCI or ESD measurements
Current shunt measurements
