Danisense DCCT Ultra-Precision DC Current Sensors: How They Work
A fluxgate works by using an excited coil of soft magnetic material as the probe; saturation/desaturation cycling and signal processing let the coil measure the magnetic field proportionally. This opens up several current-sensor designs: it can simply replace an air-gap Hall probe, and the coil can take a split form.

Rogowski Coils vs. Coaxial Shunts: A Comparison
Coaxial shunt or Rogowski coil for current measurement in double-pulse testing? There is no perfect answer - it depends on which figures matter most to your test, and on installation conditions. The two can be used together without interference and cross-check each other.

Choosing the Right Probe for Double-Pulse Testing
Double-pulse testing is a key method for evaluating the dynamic behavior of power semiconductors such as MOSFETs and IGBTs. A working double-pulse bench is the first step toward sound evaluation; besides the basics - test board, supplies, signal generator, inductor and oscilloscope - this article focuses on the probes, leaving you with a clear picture of probe selection.

Rogowski Coils vs. Other Current Probes: Strengths and Weaknesses
The Rogowski coil - also called a Rogowski current transformer or air-core coil - is an electronic transformer for measuring AC current: fast transients, pulsed currents in power devices, or 50 Hz and higher-frequency AC signals.

Selecting T&M Non-Inductive Coaxial Shunts for Double-Pulse Ids Measurement
A coaxial shunt is essentially a very small resistor that measures current by Ohm's law - typically for large pulsed currents. The right shunt depends on the measurement scenario; selection comes down to the factors below.

Rogowski Coil Low-Frequency and Droop Characteristics
In principle a Rogowski coil cannot measure DC, so its detection sensitivity falls at low frequency; the -3 dB point is usually taken as the low-frequency cutoff. When the signal contains low-frequency components, the measured result can deviate from the actual current - take care in use. The cutoff and its roll-off specification vary by model; the roll-off (droop) characteristic refers to the response to a step pulse and is tabulated in Table 1.

Using the Offset Function on the PMK BumbleBee High-Voltage Differential Probe
Comparing the two measurements shows the benefit of the Bumblebee differential probe's offset feature. In real power-device work the switching voltages swing between 0 V and the bus voltage; leave margin for spike overshoot and the negative dynamic range of ordinary differential probes adds little value. The Bumblebee's offset converts the negative range into usable positive measuring range, so a smaller range - and better resolution - can be used while keeping adequate dynamic range.
