Company Overview
LEM, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, is the world's reference manufacturer of current and voltage transducers. Founded in 1972, the company pioneered the closed-loop (zero-flux) hall transducer that made precise, isolated current measurement a standard component of industrial drives, traction systems, welding equipment and, increasingly, the power-electronics test benches used for SiC and GaN development.
History
From its Swiss base LEM developed the compensation principle into families of transducers covering milliamperes to more than a hundred kiloamperes. The company expanded globally with factories in Europe, Asia and the Americas, and its components became the default choice of drive and inverter manufacturers. Recent generations add fluxgate and digital technologies for ppm-class accuracy and higher bandwidth.
Strengths
LEM's advantages are engineering depth and manufacturing scale: consistent quality across millions of units, complete documentation, and families designed for every mounting need (panel, busbar, PCB). Its wideband laboratory transducers preserve closed-loop accuracy at the frequencies relevant to switching-loss measurement, while industrial ranges offer proven reliability in traction and renewable-energy environments.
Product Portfolio
- Closed-loop hall current transducers (LA/LT/Compact series) for drives and test benches
- Fluxgate high-precision transducers (IT-series) for metrology and laboratory use
- Wideband current transducers for double-pulse and switching-loss measurement
- Voltage transducers (LV/CV series) for isolated DC-bus and AC measurement
