Company Overview

Ross Engineering Corporation is an American manufacturer of high-voltage relays, contactors and safety devices, based in the United States. Its products are used wherever high voltage must be switched, grounded or interlocked safely: test laboratories, capacitor-bank systems, electrostatic precipitators, medical and accelerator installations, and high-voltage battery test benches.

History

Ross Engineering built its reputation on high-voltage switching hardware designed for research environments, where standard industrial contactors are unsuitable. Its relay families use air or vacuum insulation, high-creepage insulation systems and mechanical designs that tolerate frequent operation at kilovolt potentials, and its grounding and interlock devices have become standard safety components in high-voltage laboratories.

Strengths

The company's strength is safety engineering: positive-break contacts, visible isolation gaps, mechanically robust actuators and clear status indication. Products are rated conservatively and documented for laboratory safety audits. Because Ross builds for research and test duty rather than mass industrial use, custom coil voltages, mounting arrangements and contact configurations are routine.

Product Portfolio

  • High-voltage relays and contactors (kV-class, air and vacuum types)
  • Safety grounding switches and discharge devices for capacitor banks
  • Interlock systems and high-voltage safety accessories
  • Custom high-voltage switching assemblies for test laboratories

In a double-pulse or capacitor-discharge test bench, Ross grounding switches are frequently the component that makes safe operator access possible after a test run.
