Company Overview
PCB Piezotronics, part of the Amphenol group and headquartered in Depew, New York, is a leading manufacturer of piezoelectric sensors for vibration, shock, pressure, force and torque. Founded in 1967, the company's ICP® sensor concept — piezoelectric sensing with built-in electronics — made reliable dynamic measurement practical for industry.
History
PCB began with charge-mode accelerometers for aerospace testing and grew through the invention and popularisation of ICP sensors, which integrate impedance-converting electronics into the sensor housing. This simplified cabling and made vibration monitoring routine in automotive, industrial and structural applications. The company expanded into pressure, force and strain sensing, and joined Amphenol in 2016.
Strengths
Breadth and consistency: hundreds of accelerometer models covering miniature, high-temperature, triaxial and industrial variants, all supported by traceable calibration. The ICP ecosystem — sensors, cables, signal conditioners — is designed as a chain, and the company's applications engineers help select sensors for modal, durability and NVH work.
Product Portfolio
- Accelerometers (ICP, charge mode, triaxial, high-temperature)
- Pressure and force sensors, including dynamic and ballistic types
- Torque sensors, strain sensors and modal hammers
- Signal conditioners, cables and calibration services
In power-electronics labs, PCB accelerometers and force sensors support mechanical characterisation of modules, heatsinks and busbar assemblies under thermal-cycling and vibration stress.
