Opsens Solutions, headquartered in Québec City, Canada, is a specialist in fibre-optic sensing. Its OTG series fibre-optic temperature sensors and signal conditioners provide inherently immune-to-EMI temperature measurement for demanding environments: MRI suites, power-electronics test cells, battery and semiconductor processes — anywhere conventional thermocouples suffer from induced noise or high voltage.

History

Founded in 2003 from fibre-optic sensing research, Opsens developed the GaAs-based semiconductor sensor principle into a robust product line. Its instruments found early adoption in medical MRI temperature monitoring and industrial process control, and power-electronics engineers rapidly recognised the value of fully dielectric temperature probes for measuring hot-spots on live IGBT/SiC modules and inside transformers.

Strengths

The fibre-optic approach provides complete galvanic isolation, immunity to electromagnetic interference, and small sensor tips that reach places electrical sensors cannot. Accuracy is stable over time, multiple sensors multiplex on one conditioner, and calibration is traceable. For double-pulse and high-voltage tests, Opsens probes report junction-area temperatures without disturbing the circuit.
